Thai Series ‘Friendzone’ Review: Is ‘Friendzone’ a Dangerous Area?

Thai Series Friendzone Review

Thai Series Friendzone is a story of a group of friends and the complications arising in their relationship. It is written by
Jojo Tichakorn Phukhaotong, Chakorn Chaiprecha and
Jirapreeya Machuay and directed by Jojo Tichakorn Phukhaotong, Chakorn Chaiprecha. The series is an ensemble with Singto, Plustor, Namtan, Pearwah, Lee, Aye, Nat Sakdatorn, Best and Ter playing main characters.

Plot

Earth, Boyo, Boom and Stud are friends from university. After finishing university all of them are trying to settle for a good job and relationship. Earth who is the “good boy” of the gang is already in a 4-year relationship with his boyfriend Dr Sam. Boyo’s boyfriend broke up with her as she could not find a permanent income. Boom is also in an on-and-off relationship with her boyfriend Tor. Stud is a free bird with no serious relationship but numerous flings. Boyo has a senior friend named Am and she has a boyfriend named Bern. Stud, Boom and Boyo were living in the same house. But Boom and Boyo experienced threats because of Stud’s dating habits. So they kickout Stud from their apartment. Replacing Stud Good, a junior of Bern enters the house, who also happens to be one of the major characters of the series.

Theme

The series talks about the complicated story of their friendship. Although they are all friends, some of them are not ‘just’ friends. They rely on each other when problems arise in their lives. Relationships are shown most realistically in this series. There is no so called ‘ideal relationship’ in the series just like there is nothing like that in real life. After watching too many ideal love stories, this was a breath of reality for me. Every character is flawed. Nobody is perfect. Everybody has their good and evil shades. . We cannot characterize a human being as good and another as evil. Everybody have made mistakes. This is the most fascinating part for me.

The writing is very interesting and I binge-watched the whole season in a day. The best thing about the series is the Casting. Each actor is perfect for their respective roles. All of them have played their characters with just the right amount of emotions.

The series has two seasons. The second season is also as good as the first with a lot more complications. You can watch Friendzone on Youtube.
