Review of Theory of Love
Theory of Love is a 2019 Thai BL series directed by X Nuttapong Mongkolsawas. Pratchaya Thavornthummarut, Bee Pongsate Lucksameepong and Au Kornprom Niyomsil are the screenwriters of the series. The lead roles are played by the famous BL couple Off Jumpol Adulkittiporn and Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat.
Third (Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat) and Khai (Off Jumpol Adulkittiporn) are film students and best friends for three years. Two (played by White Nawat Phumphothingam) and Bone ( Mike Chinnarat Siriphongchawalit) are the other friends in their group. Third who has been in love with Khai for three years has kept that a secret. Khai is a player and has never been in a serious relationship. Third watches Khai bringing a different girl every day to home and it breaks his heart. Later Two finds out about Third’s secret love and decides to help him to win Khai’s heart. As the story progresses, the audiences get to witness several emotional and heartbreaking scenes performed effortlessly by Gun.
The screenplay also takes the audiences to the world of films and introduces several classic movies in every episode. Another fascinating thing about the series is that each episode is titled after a classic movie. The series also offers two good subplots of the separate love stories of Two and Bone.
The actors have done a very good job of performing their characters. However, it is Gun who stands out. He is extremely good in the series, especially in the emotional scenes. As the name of the series suggests, each episode discovers a different theory about love. Although Khai could not initially accept that he was falling in love with Third, later he becomes a hopeless romantic who tries to win Third’s heart. The character development of Khai is the best in the series. I also loved the way Two’s love story took a surprising turn.
Theory of Love will be good watch for you if you are a fan of romantic comedy drama. For any BL fan, this is a must watch series.
