Never Have I Ever: New season is all about Realizations

SPOILER ALERT : The review contains spoilers from season 3 of Never Have I Ever ( Streaming now on Netflix)

Netflix’s popular coming-of-age series Never Have I Ever is the journey of Devi finding herself while dealing with the grief of losing her father unexpectedly. It has now come with its third season with a lot of surprises. The season begins with the mass entry of Devi (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Paxton (played by Darren Barnet) as an official dating couple. Finally, Devi is with her dream guy. What could go wrong now? Everything. Because it’s Devi, a clueless high school girl.

Devi and Paxton’s official entry as a couple from Never Have I Ever Season 3

After their break up, the OG Love triangle becomes complicated with the best surprise of the season. An Indian guy ‘Des’ played by Anirudh Pisharody. The love triangle became a love square/rectangle with his entry.

However, with his and his mom’s character taking up a lot of screen space, we get to see very few of Ben (played by Jaren Lewison) and Paxton. They would have become totally invisible if an episode had not been dedicated solely for them. The scenes between Devi and her mother Nalini( played by )are also very less compared to the former seasons. The love story of her friend Eleanor and Trent was good. There are full of confusions in Fabiola’s story. Similarly with the story of Aneesa.

Paxton says to Devi that he can’t be with her unless she can love herself. Her next relationship with Des was pretty mature but ended due to the over-interfering mother of her boyfriend.

With two unsuccessful relationships Devi realises what matters. she bounces back stronger than ever. This perseverance of Devi is what the show is all about. And also what I love about her. . She finds a part of herself while dealing with these unsuccessful relationships. The season ends with a bang which was shocking for me Hopefully, season 4 brings a more evolved Devi who makes rational decisions.

Overall, the series is good but not as great as the previous two seasons. Any one who enjoys watching a fun high school drama will enjoy watching this series.
