Netflix’s Series Uncoupled is Good at Many Levels

Netflix’s new comedy series “Uncoupled” created by Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman is good at many levels. Neil Patrick Harris as Michael is a real estate agent who struggles to get on with his life, after being left by his boyfriend Collin (Tuc Watkins) of 17 years. He enters into the dating world again in his forties which he hated even when he was young.

Michaels’s friends Billy (Emerson Brooks) and Stanley ( Brooks Ashmanskas) help him to get on track with dating. Billy is a good looking gay man with great body who enjoys his life of dating younger men. Stanley, on the other hand, is an art dealer who is lonely and have not dated anyone in the past year. There are a lot of hilarious moments in the series between this trio. Neil Patrick Harris is brilliant in both emotional scenes as well as comedy scenes. The series is primarily a comedy series with a few emotional scenes here and there.

Michael’s friend and real estate partner Suzzane (Tisha Campbell) is a single mom with a son in his early twenties. The scenes in which Michael and Suzzane try to capture the clients are hysterical. Claire (Marcia Gay Harden) is one of their jackpots who has a 5000 sq. feet Manhattan home to sell. Marcia Gay Harden gives a rib-tickling performance as Claire who was abandoned by her husband, after 28 years of marriage. She tries to get back her life together while worrying about having no demand for old women in the dating market.

The final episode of Uncoupled is an emotional bombardment and it has all my heart. The ending of the season was mind blowing. The song played in the background during the last scene will take us to a different world of emotions.

Overall, the series is an out and out comedy one. Neil Patrick’s versatility as an actor is once again proved in this series.
