Big Dragon is one of those series that you would like because the main protagonists are extremely flawed. It had a very impressive first episode. Both the characters here are extremely ferocious and cunning. They are also not likeable characters. This gives the series a very interesting arc because we do not often get to see characters like these in pop culture.
For starters, this is not set in a university campus, although, the protagonists are idolized here too. The story is simple – enemies to lovers. The execution and overall conception of the series is outstanding. And that is the aspect that you can look forward to because this is a very predictable series.
Since the series has only eight episodes, there is absolutely no delay. We are in the world of the characters right from the first scene. There is no exposition or set up but rather a flashback. Big Dragon is produced on a huge cinematic scale and every frame is beautiful.
We can see careful thought and detailing in every scene. The use of colors is worth mentioning. The costumes and the colors that the actors wear are unique to their characters. In a scene which involves three actors in a bar, the colors they wear are striking. The actors are good in their respective roles.
Another important aspect is the music. Now, Big Dragon is a good show, it’s not great. But the music really elevates the whole series from good to great. Especially, the OST by Isbanky “Dancing with the Devil” captures the angst and turmoil of the character Yai and the essence of the love story.
Big Dragon is definitely worth a watch. There might not be so much to pack into this, but it is definitely good by the standards of execution. You can watch it on YouTube or GagaOOLala.
