The Three GentleBros Review: A Series Better Suited for the 90s

Review of Ep.1

The Three GentleBros has an interesting line of actors which includes
Mook Worranit Thawornwong, Tay Tawan Vihokratana, Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat, and Luke Ishikawa Plowden. It’s very obvious from the trailer itself that this is the story of three brothers who have an overbearing mother. So, did the first episode live up to the expectation? This is a review of the first episode of The Three GentleBros.

Unfortunately, the first episode was a series of cliches. The storyline and execution is so outdated that it looks like a soap opera from the nineties (except the costumes, of course). The scenes, the set up and the acting are something that we have seen a million times before (probably in our childhood).

The exceptions are Tay Tawan and Gun Atthaphan. They appear barely in the first episode, yet impress you. Everything and everyone else is so generic and dramatic. Other than that, it was all a combination of the extramarital, the female rivalry, the unfaithful father, the misunderstood heroine who does nothing about it, and the hero who cuts her off just as she opens her mouth.

Most of the scenes are accompanied by a dramatic background score which is funny. Luke Ishikawa Plowden is good in comedy scenes. Mook Worranit Thawornwong is pretty but she does not deliver especially in emotional scenes. But we cannot really blame the actors in a series like this which is so underwritten.

If you are into generic and dramatic content, you might enjoy this. You might also enjoy this, if you are fans of the actors. But, The Three GentleBros really looks like a typical series which does not rise up to the average. In short, this series has nothing new to offer.
