Beauty Newbie is an upcoming 2023 Thai language series starring
Baifern Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul and Win Metawin Opas-iamkajorn. The series is an adaptation of the webtoon My ID is Gangnam Beauty which already has a popular Korean adaptation of the same name. Here is my review of the trailer of Beauty Newbie.
Beauty Newbie is directed by Mai Aticha Tanthanawigrai who is famous for F4 Thailand and Girl from Nowhere 2. Baifern shows some spunk as the protagonist Prima Paspimol. The subject here is plastic surgery which is said in a lighter tone. Thai version looks minimal compared to the Korean version which had a massive scale. Here, everything including the color scheme show that the storytelling would be more grave.
Win is reprising the role played by Cha Eun-woo. But he seems to be a total misfit here. He looks gorgeous for the role, but the character here is a bit cold and often not expressive which might in turn show Win’s limitations as an actor.
The supporting cast however looks more convincing than the lead actors.
Fah Yongwaree Anilbol and Great Sapol Assawamunkong are perfectly cast in their respective roles. After watching P.S I Hate You, I can say for sure that Fah will do total justice to the character.
The trailer of Beauty Newbie looks refreshing despite having a much popular Korean adaptation. Except for a few cheesy dialogues, this could be a promising one.
