Bridgerton Season 3 Review: Polin Shines with their Electrifying Chemistry

Season 3 of Bridgerton is described as its best yet. My favourite was Season 1 but this season has the potential to take its spot. There are many reasons for this. Here is our review of Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1.

Season 1 had us swooning over the romance of Daphne and the Duke. Season 2 had an enemies-to-lovers plot that didn’t make much sense (I know this is an unpopular opinion and I swear I have nothing against Kanthony fans). We also had an incredible spin-off that tells the story of Queen Charlotte.

What’s It About Bridgerton Season 3?

It’s a Win for the Underdogs

How often do characters like Colin and Penelope take centre stage? They are people like you and me and finally get their time to shine.

Better Character Arcs

Season 3 gets better arcs for the lead characters something that was lacking in Season 2 (Kanthony had nothing better to do than fall in love with each other).

Penelope is probably the most complex character in the franchise as she has to don two personas – herself and Lady Whistledown. Her innermost thoughts and feelings are explored well in this season.

Colin also has complicated feelings as he falls in love with his best friend. He was the simplest character in the former seasons, but here we see a lonely man often weighed down by the responsibility of making everyone else around him happy.

The Performances

Actors do not disappoint as always. We have a new lot of supporting actors doing their best job in Season 3.  Hannah Dodd perfectly fits the character of Francesca Bridgerton.

Nicola Coughlan as Penelope in Bridgerton Season 3 Source: Netflix

Nicola Coughlan is magnetic as Penelope Featherington. She imbibes everything that Penelope is and everything she stands for effortlessly. She portrays her with equal vulnerability and strength as she goes through the most complex emotions of wanting to love and be loved.

Luke Newton is excellent, but he is overshadowed by Coughlan’s brilliance.

What Doesn’t Work?

One cannot ignore that this Season has rather dull subplots. It lacks the liveliness that Season 1 had. Even the Bridgerton house seems to be devoid of any colour.

Francesca’s debut, the development given to Cressida, and everything doesn’t seem to hit the mark. Though Eloise is there, she seems to be peripheral. But, we have four more episodes to find out more.

Is Season 3 of Bridgerton the Best?

Well, we need part 2 to drop to know. With the first four episodes, I think it is yet to beat Season 1. Let’s wait and see.

Hope you enjoyed our review of Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1.
