Episode 1 Review
Contrary to what one might expect when they see the title of the series, Ghost Host, Ghost House had a really promising first episode. I liked the premise of this horror comedy and I understand why a title like this is interesting. It is a horror comedy, and also a BL series. I am sold with just the first episode.
The first episode really serves as a set up. We are introduced to the characters, where they live and what they do. In the beginning we see this world through the eyes of the main character Kevin, (Tod Techit Panyanarapon) an American born Thai, who is returning back. But soon, we see things that even he does not know.
The cast is amazing, especially the family members who play Kevin’s relatives. There is an eerie aura to everything, but the portrayal of that is in a comical manner; just what one would expect from a horror comedy. In fact, there is more comedy than horror. The English exchanges between Kevin and Pleum (Boy Nattapon Wongvanich) are hilarious. The girl who plays the role of Kevin’s cousin really stood out for me.
We do not see anything even slightly romantic in the first episode. But since this is also a BL, it will be very interesting to see how the creators would bring in the element of love into the narrative. The execution, and cinematography are satisfactory. Nothing is overdone and everything suits the minimalist setting.

Overall, Ghost Host, Ghost House is very interesting, as far as the horror-comedy aspect is concerned. It is definitely worth your time and does not look like another tacky BL. You can watch it on GagaOOLala.
