Once Again is the latest Korean BL in the scene. With only two released episodes (which are seemingly short), the series has already told a lot without telling anything. It is an interesting plot which involves time travel. What impressed me the most was the emotions in the first two episodes which breaks right through your heart. So, this is a review of Once Again, the new Korean BL series.

There aren’t many Korean BL series. But it is amusing to see how the creators in South Korea come up with such unique plots for every series. They do not limit it to a campus story, just because it talks about same sex love. Even if the running time is short for BL series, Korean BL series always have a unique charm because the limited time do not seem to be a problem for them to bring intriguing plots and well-rounded characters on paper.

Like many K-dramas, destiny plays an important part in Once Again too. But, it is not tacky here, as it is a much repeated trope. Instead, it is about intense longing, irrevocable love and second chances. Once Again has a very minimalist setting and slice-of-life narrative pattern. Adding the element of time travel might seem odd but that makes this drama special and innovative.

The actors, are amazing, but Moon Ji Yong as Shin Jae Woo steals the show in the first two episodes. He is almost impeccable as the broken and vulnerable Shin Jae Woo. Lee Hyun Jun as Kang Ji Hoon shows some spunk although we do not see much of him in the first two episodes.

Overall, Once Again has got all the elements that would hook a viewer and it is aesthetically pleasing and promising. You can watch it on Viki.
