Netflix’s upcoming Heartbreak High is an Australian series about a girl Amerie who tries to win her reputation back while dealing with romance and heartbreak.
The Australian series is created by Hannah Carroll Chapman, Ben Gannon and Michael Jenkins. Ayesha Madon, James Majoos and Cloe Hayden play the major characters.
Amerie is a student of Hartley High School and she got dumped by her bestfriend recently. Apparently, she does not know the reason. So, she disturbs her best friend to find out the reason why she dumped her. In the end, her bestfriend punches her in the face. The story’s real hero is an incest map which suddenly appears in their school. It describes all kinds of hook up stories in the school. Everyone in the school ostracize her as they think she is the one behind the map.
With everything happening related to the incest map, the school compels the students to attend a sexual literacy class. The students obviously think that attending a sexual literacy class is some kind of ‘sex jail’.
With no friends in the school, Amerie gets two new friends outside her school, a boy and a girl. They stand by her and help her to win her reputation back. Would she win back her reputation? How is she going to make that happen?
As I have not watched the original series of 1994, I don’t know what is about to happen. I think the story will be interesting. As Netflix has been releasing a lot of Highschool drama now, I am not sure how this one is going to stand out. As it is the reboot of a hit series, I have my hopes up high. Although I got the vibes of Never Have I Ever and Sex Education while watching the trailer, I hope this series has something new to offer and would not end like Netflix’s Boo, Bitch which was a disaster.
I would recommend watching this series to know the whole story.
The series releases on September 14 On Netflix.
