Takara kun &Amagi kun Episode 1 Review

Takara Kun & Amagi Kun Episode 1 shows the beginning of a romantic love story between two highschool boys Takara kun and Amagi kun. It is written and directed by Yoshino Mamoru. Takara (played by Sato Arata) and Amagi (played by Oriama Naohiro) are classmates who have a secret crush on each other. Takara is one of the cool boys while Amagi is one of the unpopular boys. Amagi confesses his feelings to Takara and both of them agree to date each other. Although Amagi is quite expressive about his love towards Takara, Takara doesn’t express his feelings publicly. This becomes painful to Amagi.

The story is narrated by Amagi and Takara. The back-and-forth narration is so interesting to watch in this series. The direction is also very beautiful. I loved the first scene in which Amagi is sitting alone in the classroom while it is raining outside. His mind might also be pouring like the rain. The cinematography is a little dull which takes us to a bit sad mood of the story. Blue colour has great significance in the series. For instance, the blue sky/blue ocean/blue uniform have caught my attention. The background score also elevates the mood of the series. Both the main actors are terrific performers and they share great chemistry.

The first episode ends with Takara confessing to Amagi. Althought Takara is confused about expressing his love, he cannot think about losing Amagi. I would recommend this series to the ones who enjoy watching romantic stories. You can watch this series in Rakuten Viki.
