23.5 GL Trailer Talk: High school Girls’ Love

23.5 is GMMTV’s upcoming Girls’ Love series releasing in 2023. This is a highly anticipated one and is said to be the Thailand TV giant’s first GL series. The trailer of the series has dropped and has quite a refreshing appeal. Here are my thoughts on the trailer of the series 23.5.

The Cast

The most interesting aspect of the series is its cast. Milk Pansa Vosbein and Love Pattranite Limpatiyakorn play the lead roles in 23.5. They have quite a good following after Bad Buddy. Their short but sweet storyline in Bad Buddy was well appreciated. These actors bring a special kind of warmth and charm to their characters and lights up the screen. They are a delight to watch on screen.

The Creators

The director of 23.5 is  Fon Kanittha Kwunyoo who is popular for directing Together the Movie and 10 Years Ticket (one of the most anticipated year end releases of 2022). The screenwriters are  Lalil Kittitanaphan and  Lalil Kittitanaphan who are popular for writing the comedy Baker Boys. So, there is a really promising team working behind the scenes for 23.5.

The Trailer

The trailer gives out a very warm and pleasant vibe which is typical of high school romances. Every frame is breath taking. There is nothing new in the storyline, but it is very refreshing to watch the same old high school love, which has been monopolized by the heteronormative narratives, as a girls’ love story.

There is also an interesting sub plot which speaks of a BL story. I really hope it does not take away the importance of the lesbian love. But there is also the concern of neglecting the essential lesbian experience because the creators are predominantly men. The recently released Gap the Series was an utter disappointment as far as the aspect of lesbian experience is concerned.

But, 23.5 seems to have the potential to surpass the cliches in the plot. There are some cheesy lines but that is usual for high school romances. My favorite part of the trailer was the ending of it where both the actors share a beautiful moment together. 23.5 is definitely something to look forward to.

GMMTV FIRST GL SERIES?! There’s a RUMOR circulating on Twitter that #MilkLove will portray the lead roles in GL series adapted from this novel (23.5 degrees Incline). It is said that GMM bought it to make a series several months ago.
